WE ARE BRINGING DOWN THE COST OF GOVERNMENT!

The County Council is bringing down the cost of government. I understand that our families are hurting and people are losing their jobs and their homes. I  know that people need to put food on their table, pay their electric bill and pump gas into their cars.  I understand that government must get out of our purse and do more with less.  I know that we must work smarter.  

Cuts have been to the library fund, votran bus services, community services, external programs, and beach services. every department was asked to come in with a 15% reduction from the year before. Budget workshops were held every meeting to identify where we could find savings in the governement

You have been asking for tax relief. And the County Council is giving it to you.  We set our Trim rates for the next budget year this last council meeting.

I can't speak for the cities or any other special taxing districts like the Hospital districts, St. Johns or FIND, but we are bringing in Your County Budget below last year's budget. 

Our General fund is down by almost $24 million and all County funds are down by over $32 million … an overall reduction of 14%. You are getting tax relief from the County Council this next budget year! You will see tax relief when you open your tax bill this year!
