WE ARE BRINGING DOWN THE COST OF GOVERNMENT!

The County Council is bringing down the cost of government. I understand that our families are hurting and people are losing their jobs and their homes. I  know that people need to put food on their table, pay their electric bill and pump gas into their cars.  I understand that government must get out of our purse and do more with less.  I know that we must work smarter.  

Cuts have been to the library fund, votran bus services, community services, external programs, and beach services. every department was asked to come in with a 15% reduction from the year before. Budget workshops were held every meeting to identify where we could find savings in the governement

LIFE AFFIRMING. . . I CAN NOT THINK OF ANOTHER WORD TO DESCRIBE MY RECENT TRIP WITH THE WORLD WAR II VETERANS OF THE VOLUSIA HONOR AIR.  TRAVELING WITH THESE 100 PLUS VETS TO OUR NATION'S CAPITAL, WAS, INDEED, A LIFE AFFIRMING EXPERIENCE.

I am proud that Volusia County has a well run Veterans Service Office that is serving our military.  Serving in the military is demanding and sometimes dangerous. Benefits are offered to veterans in return for their sacrifices to our Defense. Volusia County's Veterans Services Division is an advocate for veterans. Our counselors know the extent, meaning and application of the laws that have been passed by the U.S. Congress and Florida Legislature in the interest of veterans and their dependents. Our Veterans office staff will apply specialized knowledge in the way best suited to the needs of each veteran and his or her beneficiaries.

You have my promise that our Veterans office will remain intact and open to serving not just the Greatest Generation, but all our Veterans, from every service and battle our great country has fought.
