Construction projects in the district

The final asphalt has been put down and the construction of the DeBary Bypass and Trail is completed from Deltona Blvd to Providence Blvd.  This important road project is moving cars around the historic community of Enterprise.  Old DeBary Ave is now closed off.  Sure has made a difference in the traffic and the noise.  What was once a heavily traveled road has now been turned over to the wild turkeys that can be seen in the evening meandering through the community.  We will be officially cutting the ribbon on the new road. Come join us for a ribbon cutting July 31st, 10:00 am.

Soon we will be breaking ground on the segment of our Rail Trail project with the next 6 miles of rail trail that will run from Providence Blvd in Deltona to State Road 415 in Osteen.

And many of you have stopped me to ask about the mountain of dirt that is along the west side of State Road 415.  No… that is not the new road bed; but it is the preparation for the widening of the road, now fully funded from Acorn Lake Road to Reed Ellis Road for a construction start in 2013. Other Projects in our District

Doyle Road Safety Improvements: Safety improvements have been completed along the dangerous curve just east of Saxon Blvd as you travel into Osteen. It is my hope this will result in fewer accidents and deaths at that location.  Improvements include visual flashers and speed signs along with improvements to the pavement shoulder.

Howland Blvd:
Now completed. With all lanes open in both directions, the most recent section of Howland Blvd from Elkcam Blvd to Courtland is moving traffic between Orange City, Deltona and Osteen.   Work will begin shortly on the next section of road from Courtland Blvd in Deltona south to State Road 415 and the Osteen community.  That segment is anticipated to begin 4th quarter 2010 and will take approx 22-24 months. Road work is not over along this important corridor.

Saxon Blvd Repairs: This road on the west side of Interstate 4 was left a mess by Tropical Storm Faye. Repairs were slow to be made due to a funding crunch and complexity with reimbursement from FEMA. The extent of the damage was also much greater then we originally determined. However, we were able to resolve all the issues and while repair work from Faye has been completed, this is another corridor that will see more work on it as the County makes this road safer for travel in 2010.  Additional lanes and medians will be constructed this year. So be prepared for some stop and go days as you travel it.
